Pathologie Zentrum Zürich (Institut für klinische Pathologie medica und Pathologie Dr. Noll AG) is one of the leading pathology institutions in Switzerland and performs morphological investigations on tissue and cell samples from all organ systems. Our team covers the entire spectrum of pathology and meets the highest diagnostic standards with the help of cutting-edge processes. We work in accordance with current, certified and quality-assured standards and are well connected with colleagues from a host of other disciplines through our participation in tumour boards and our cooperation with clinical institutions.

- as part of our cooperation with various organ centres, we frequently participate in quality circles too.

In order to provide excellent patient care, we strive to process samples and return results as quickly as we can. The processing time for the histological examination of biopsies is 12-24 hours, depending on when samples are submitted; for larger surgical specimens it is 2-3 working days; for cytology findings it is generally 12-24 hours, with rapid results available within 2 hours; and for molecular pathological analyses the processing time is 3-6 working days.
Dear customers
We have reorganized our sample collection, which should help you receive our results more quickly.
From October 23rd, 2023 there will be four different colors of sample bags:
- Yellow bag for cytological samples (gynecological and extragenital cytology)
- Purple bag for histological samples
- Red bag for hematopathology samples (e.g. bone marrow)
- White bag for samples for laboratory medicine
We kindly ask you to follow the above subdivision of samples.
We would like to inform you that we will be offering an extra courier service for rapid section assessments at the Hirslanden Clinic (location: Witellikerstrasse) from September 1, 2023. The motorcycle courier will bring the samples to our rapid section assessments laboratory at Forchstrasse 291 within the shortest possible time (600 meters/3 minutes).

We are also happy to offer rapid section assessments examinations on Saturdays, but only if you register in advance by 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
Histology
Our investigations cover the entire spectrum of the conventional pathological assessment of tissue samples (including rapid sections, immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence).
Cytology
We offer non-gynaecological (exfoliative) and gynaecological cytology and run a puncture outpatient clinic where we perform ultrasound-guided fine-needle puncture procedures.
Molecular pathology
We investigate genetic alterations in neoplastic lesions using NGS, Sanger sequencing, clonality analyses, microsatellite instability analysis and FISH.

Rapid section assessments
Rapid sections for assessment make it possible to diagnose tumours intraoperatively and analyse surgical incision margins.
Puncture outpatient clinic
In our state-of-the-art puncture outpatient clinic, we perform ultrasound-guided fine-needle puncture procedures.
Obtaining your results
You are free to choose how you would like to receive your results – by fax, post, e-mail, online or directly through your practice software.
