Specialist in neuropathology
Following her medical degree, Elisabeth Rushing undertook a year’s residency in internal medicine at the Johns Hopkins University Hospital (Baltimore, MD, USA) before completing specialist medical training in neurology at Georgetown University Hospital (Washington, DC, USA). Next, she trained in neuropathology at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology (Washington, DC, USA). Then she took up an appointment in Dallas, Texas, as Professor of Pathology (Neuropathology) at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. Her last positions in the USA were Head of Neuropathology at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology, Professor of Neurology at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (Bethesda, Maryland) and Professor of Pathology at Georgetown University Hospital. From 2011 to 2021 she worked at the Institute of Neuropathology at the University Hospital Zurich (USZ), then spent three months in the Pathology Department at the Rikshospitalet (National Hospital) in Oslo, Norway.
